Aerbaijan lets no country use its territory against Iran

Tehran, March 12, IRNA -- Azerbaijan Defense Minister Brigadier General Safar Abiyev said on Monday his country will under no condition let any country use its soil against Iran.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi in Tehran.
Describing Iran as the strongest country in the Islamic world, Abiyev said although enemies are struggling to mar Baku-Tehran relations, the two countries must manage to stop hostile media from misusing the situation.
Expressing his country’s commitment to good-neighborly relations with Iran, he said Azerbaijan is in need of support from Iran as a powerful country of the region.
The Azeri minister decribed Iran-Azerbaijan defense cooperation as a key to peace and stability in the region.
Vahidi, for his part, ponted to numrous grounds for expansion of Tehran-Baku ties and said the two countries' historical relations would not let enemies damage the two countries’ ties.
Pointing to international developments and Iran’s current situation, he described the two countries' regional cooperation as a means to ensure the progress and welfare of regional nations.
Vahidi expressed Iran’s readiness to provide Azerbaijan with its needed military equipment.
