Iran criticizes Amano for repetitive statement to Board of Governors
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Vienna, March 5, IRNA -- Iranian Representative to International Atomic Energy Agency Ali Akbar Soltanieh said on Monday that the statement presented by IAEA Director-General Yukiya Amano to Board of Governors was repetitive.
He told IRNA that the statement was a summary of Amano's latest report on Iran.
Soltanieh said that in his statement to Board of Governors, Amano called for continued dialogue to resolve the outstanding issues about Iranian nuclear program.
'I will give response to Amano in a speech to the Board of Governors,' he said.
Soltanieh said in the meantime that the meeting of the Board of Governors is ordinary and will discuss different issues ranging from safety of nuclear power plants, application of nuclear energy in medical field and implementation of the IAEA Safeguards by inspectors.
Soltanieh complained that Amano in his statement repeated the allegations about Iranian nuclear program without giving an evidence or tangible document.
So far, Soltanieh made it clear that Amano has failed to reflect the agreement reached with the Islamic Republic of Iran in his latest report on Iran.
He said that during negotiations with IAEA officials led by Herman Nackaerts in Tehran, the two parties had agreed to sign a modality to resolve the outstanding issues.
Soltanieh said that Iran has never made objection to access of IAEA inspectors to Iranian nuclear sites, but, the two parties must sign a modality prior to any inspection.
He said that the Modality to resolve the outstanding issues about Iranian nuclear program would help the two parties to fulfill their obligations and reach a settlement.
