TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iran and the IAEA agreed to hold talks based on modality plan to resolve issues.

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Yukiya Amano met on the sidelines of Salehi's trip to Vienna on Tuesday.

Iranian ambassador to the IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh who has accompanied Salehi during the trip told ISNA, "Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi met with Amano in a friendly and constructive atmosphere. Experts of the two sides are to hold talks to resolve matters based on previous negotiations to reach a modality-centered mechanism which was already agreed by Iran and the IAEA."

Western powers claim Iran is seeking to develop a nuclear weapons capability while Tehran rejects the allegation, saying its nuclear program is aimed at generating electricity.

Iran's refusal to halt its peaceful enrichment has led to four rounds of the UN sanctions on energy, shipping and insurance sectors.
