TEHRAN (ISNA)-Employment of nuclear weapons is apparent crime against humanity, said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Mohammad Mehdi Akhound-Zadeh on Sunday.
"We are trying for actualization of the public demand of the world, a world free of nuclear weapons through the second international nuclear disarmament," he said in the second International Nuclear Disarmament Conference held in Tehran.
"Nuclear arsenals of countries with nuclear weapons are most threatening the world. Nuclear weapon is the most inhumane arm in the world and the tragic event of Hiroshima and Nagasaki reflect the issue. Employment of nuclear weapon is apparent crime against humanity."
He added Iran is to host the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) conference in summer which seeks assistance to realization of a world free of nuclear weapons.
The two-day conference kicked off on Sunday would focus on nuclear disarmament issues.
The international meeting mainly seeks examining ways to end nuclear challenges, Zionist regime's nuclear arsenals, nuclear disarmament and arms control.
Also deputy of Iranian top nuclear negotiator Ali Bagheri is to address the meeting on Monday.
The conference has brought together delegates from different nations across the world, including the United States, ambassadors and representatives from international bodies such as the UN and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The event comprises three specialized panels which will discuss the doctrines of nuclear powers, take practical measures to have a world free of weapons of mass destruction and review regional as well as international disarmament commitments.
Last year, Iran hosted the first Nuclear Disarmament Conference with the theme of "Nuclear Energy for All, Nuclear Weapon for None."
Iran plans to hold the 3rd International Nuclear Disarmament Conference at ministerial level where the country will once again promote its message that all nations are entitled to peaceful nuclear energy.
