TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iran said on Wednesday that it would produce fuel plates without any considerable delay.

"We have not experienced production of fuel plate yet and it has been our first performance. I can say that we have worked well so far and it seems unlikely that a considerable delay appears in the project," he told reporters.

Also concerning production of 20-percent enriched fuel, he said, "we will continue production of fuel with 20 percent purity inside Natanz nuclear facility as long as ground will be set for production of the fuel inside Fordo nuclear site."

He reiterated that the transfer of activities would be conducted under the IAEA supervision.

Abbasi continued, "we will just conduct fuel enrichment to that percent of purity inside Fordo site only when we manage to raise the production level as many as two times as the current capacity."

Iran has been under mounting pressure from the West and four sets of the UN sanctions to abandon its nuclear program, with Western powers claim that it wants to build nuclear weapon. Tehran insists its program is for energy production only.

Iran has invited some 50 foreign officials from 40 countries to join the second international conference on nuclear disarmament mid June.

The conference is to discuss challenges, nuclear disarmament and weapons of mass destruction.

Some 50 deputy foreign ministers and senior researchers from 40 countries are to attend the conference scheduled for June 12-13.
