President: Bushehr nuclear plant to become operational soon

Tehran, June 7, IRNA -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here on Tuesday that construction of Bushehr nuclear power plant is complete and will start operation in the near future.
The power plant should undergo tests so as to be fully put on the cycle. We hope that this will happen in the near future,” President Ahmadinejad said in a press conference with Iranian and foreign reporters and photographers.
Asked on the possibility of the power plant’s commissioning next month and on difference between it and hydrauelectric power plants, the President said nuclear power plants start operationl in several phases, gradually.
He said that initially 40 megawatts of power will be put on the cycle from Bushehr Power Plant until it runs with full capacity of 1,000 megawatts.
Also asked to comment on his future meeting with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in ceremonies marking inauguration of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, as Russians have already announced, President Ahmadinejad said, “It is possible. Everything is possible.”
