Shourd invited to attend 2nd court hearing
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, April 26, IRNA – Sara Shourd, one of the three detained Americans who was released later on bail, has been invited to attend her second trial session to be held soon.
The attorney for the three Americans Masood Shafiee told IRNA on Tuesday that the court session will be held on May 11.
Shafiee said that a subpoena has been sent to him as the lawyer of the accused to inform him that Shourd’s presence in the court was mandatory.
He said another subpoena has also been sent to Shourd by Iranian Foreign Ministry.
Asked on possibility of Shroud's presence in the second court hearing, Shafiee said the possibility of Shourd traveling to Tehran for the court session is very low.
Iran released Sarah Shourd last September on a $500,000 bail.
The three Americans Shourd, 31, Shane Michael Bauer and Joshua Felix Fattal, both 27, were arrested in July 2009 after illegally crossing the border from the mountains of Iraq's Kurdistan region.
They were charged with espionage.
Shourd was handed over to Swiss embassy in Iran which represents the US interests.
Bauer and Fattal will remain in jail and the trio will have to stand trial for espionage.
