Iran to become a nuclear fuel rod producer country soon

Qazvin, April 12, IRNA -- Junior Assistant President Mojtaba Samareh Hashemi said here Monday Iran would soon be among top countries that produced nuclear fuel rods.

Speaking at a press conference, Samareh Hashemi added, “Project on manufacturing 20% enriched fuel plates that are merely needed for the Tehran Research Reactor (TRR) is in final stages of completion.”

He reiterated, “The Iranian Atomic Energy Organization is acquiring and providing the facilities, putting them up, and putting to use this unit, that would be functionalized exactly on schedule.”

NEW URANIUM MINES DISCOVERED IN IRAN

Samareh Hashemi also spoke about the discovery of new uranium reserves in the country in Narigan region of Yazd Province in the winter of 2009 which opened up a promising horizon for getting access to uranium mines throughout Iran.

On increasing the production of Arak Heavy Water Plant he said, “Presently this factory is functioning in accordance with the schedule to provide the requirements of the Arak Research Reactor and producing 10% more thanks to the implemented innovations.

The Junior Assistant President focusing on production of new radio medicines reiterated, “The Gallium-Germanium Generator has been manufactured in Iran for the first time and presently the executive operations of the Charmahal-o-Bakhtiari and East Azarbaijan provinces’ radiotherapy terminals have been functionalized.”

On implementation of the Goal-Orientation of Subsidies Law, he emphasized that the project has improved the Iranian nation’s status at international scene.

He stressed that many countries have faced numerous problems and difficulties in the process of goal-orienting, or eliminating subsidies, or even reversed the process half-way through.

Samareh Hashemi added, “Some people had assumed that this would also happen in Iran and the government would be forced to reverse the process half-way through, but not only it did not happen here, but the people’s support for the plan, too, increased and broadened.”
