IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, April 9, IRNA -- Head of Iran’s Nuclear Energy Organization Fereydoun Abbasi said here on Saturday that centrifuges of the second and third generation have been tested successfully.
Addressing a ceremony marking the fifth nuclear technology festival, he also said that production of enriched uranium to a level of less than five percent is still continuing using the first generation of centrifuges.
In a bid to procure enriched materials for Tehran Research Reactor’s fuel, two nuclear chain reactions will be commissioned in Natanz enrichment site, Isfahan province.
Referring to reloading fuel into Bushehr power plant, he also said that the commissioning of the plant has been delayed due to safety considerations.
Abbasi also listed Iran’s latest nuclear achievements and hailed the efforts of the experts in the field.
Commissioning the unit for producing natural dioxide uranium with nuclear purity, producing durable isotopes in Arak heavy water complex and manufacturing radioisotope are among the major accomplishments made by the Iranian nation, he said.
