IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 8, IRNA -- The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) News Agency announced on Friday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully confident about safety of its Bushehr nuclear power plant.
Iran has declared that the Bushehr nuclear power plant’s safety systems match the latest international standards.
Deputy Director of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Nasser Rastkhah says the Bushehr nuclear power plant is quakeproof.
Iranian official underlined that the Japan’s Fukushima-like crisis will never happen for Bushehr nuclear power plant.
Rastkhah said the safety systems used in the Fukushima nuclear power plant belonged to the 1960s and the 1970s, adding that the safety systems used in Bushehr meet the latest international standards.
Islamic Republic of Iran denied foreign media reports about potential vulnerability of the Bushehr nuclear power plant to natural disasters such as earthquakes.
On March 11 2011, Japan was hit by two of the nature’s deadly disasters, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and a 3-foot tsunami which killed more than ten thousand (10,000) people with several thousand still missing.
