Ahmadinejad: Iran's nuclear case a resolved matter

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, May 25, IRNA – IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Monday Iran’s nuclear case is a resolved issue and we continue our activities within framework of agency’s regulations.

According to IRNA Political Desk reporter, speaking to the Iranian and foreign media reporters at last press conference of his first four years as the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, President Ahmadinejad made the remark in response to Reuters reporter’s question, who had asked about the 5+1G’s request for Iran’s faster response to their “suspension for suspension” proposal.

President Ahmadinejad added, “I have not seen any such thing in the news yet, but we have declared that we have already answered the 5+1 G’s communiqué, and that our new package of proposals, too, would be presented to them soon, but at any rate, if there would be any negotiations, that would have to be delayed to after the presidential elections era.”

Ahmadinejad emphasized, “At any rate, the negotiations would be merely over world management and sustainable peace and security for entire nations and the Iranian nation will not permit anyone to enter talks with us outside the regulations of the agency.”

The press conference continued with a question by Al-Menar TV, who asked Ahmadinejad about the threats posed by the Zionist regime against both Hezbollah and Iran.

The president said, “The Zionist regime is a fake entity and its foundations were laid aimed at threatening, occupying, and waging wars, since without waging wars and threatening the others, it is dead.”

He added, “Such moves are parts of a psychological war. A regime that faces the agony of defeat in confrontation with the residents of a 360 square kilometer strip, called Gaza, what else is it capable of doing?”

Ahmadinejad said, “That regime’s expiry date is over and it has lost its entire value, while all the point it is still trying to prove to its supporters is that it is at least still worth their support. Of course, those who have forged this fake regime, too, no longer believe it is capable of changing any equations in the Middle East.”

The president meanwhile reiterated, “Even regimes that are stronger than the Zionist regime cannot take any steps against Iran and they will not even commit such a stupid move as invading Lebanon, or Syria, knowing that resorting to such moves, their life will not be extended any longer than its doomed end, since the reality of their face is revealed to all and the fakeness of their entire lies and the propagation that led to their establishment is now well known for all, which is why such hue and cry is no longer worth heeding.”

The Japanese daily Yumyori’s reporter asked Ahmadinejad about his definition on the fundamentals of the revolution. The president replied, “The fundamentals of the revolution are quite clear, and they are based on respecting the dignity of the human beings, that is every single individual and the people’s rights, in addition to safeguarding peace and friendship for entire world nations.”

He added, “The Islamic Revolution is opposed to oppression, aggression, selfishness, occupation, and seeking to exert hegemony. It defends the dignity of the human beings, believing that the noble and pure human beings are fit for leading the mankind and that is a realm as vast as the entire humankind.”

Ahmadinejad said in reply to a question by Al-Arabiya reporter who had accused Iranian war planes of raiding some villages in Iraq, based on Tehran’s argument that the Americans had intrigued the villagers there, said, “This is the first time I am heading such news from you. That region has been unsafe for decades and a number of terror organizations are engaged in armed clashes against one another there.”

He added, “News on clashes in those areas is nothing new, while it is our right that if the terrorists would infiltrate into our soil, we would pursue and suppress them up to a certain range. The alien forces are trying to inflict insecurity within our borders, but they would fail in achieving their objective, since the nations on both sides of the borders are quite alert.”

Dubai TV reporter asked, “Your critics inside the country argue that you tested the Sejjil II missile at a time to take election campaign usage of it, while that missile was also tested after an Israeli war game, which seems to be inclusive of a message. What is your response to such claims?”

Ahmadinejad replied, “Security and national interests are not subject to election competitions in our country. That missile’s test was scheduled a long time before the test was conducted, and it was done sharply on time.”

He added, “Our system’s doctrine is based on avoidance, while there is nothing wrong with launching a missile that would also carry a message.”

The CNN reporter asked about the filtering of the “face book” website and whether he is in order to safeguard the freedom of expression going to order the concerned officials to lift that filter? He said, “There are thousands of websites in which anti-government articles are published, but I have to inquire and find out the reason why that site has been filtered.”

Ahmadinejad added, “We need to find out whether there is a private complaint filed against that website, or the complaint is filed by the public. In the former case the matter has to be surveyed in accordance with the laws, but in the latter case, as we have earlier mentioned, there should be no restriction.”

He meanwhile stated, “During the election campaign era no one is permitted to make moves against the other candidates, but this law is unfortunately violated sometimes.”

In response to Al-Jazeera English reporter’s question, too, the president said, “We impose political and cultural pressure against our enemies inside their own houses and are opposed to military engagements, and do not favor it. Yet, we are quite capable of getting geared in military engagements.”

An Italian reporter asked about the reason why the Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini’s visit of Tehran had been cancelled and why Berlusconi had not invited Ahmadinejad to attend an official dinner ceremony during his Italian visit.

Ahmadinejad replied, “I normally do not attend lunch and supper ceremonies during my participation at public gatherings and I had in advance announced that I would participate at FAO conference, but I would have dinner in the circle of the Iranians residing there.”

He added, “Regarding Mr. Frattini’s visit, too, the hosts had invited him themselves and the visit was scheduled to begin in Semnan, but he did not accept the invitation, and there is nothing irregular with the entire process.”

Ahmadinejad emphasized, “We do not really care about the stands adopted by some European countries, since they are under the influence of the others.”

A Chinese reporter asked about the tripartite meeting among Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. Ahmadinejad said, the Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran triangle is quite unique and unmatched in the world. All three countries are members of the same civilization; their relations with one another are intimate, and this meeting had several messages, including the three nations’ will to solve the regional crises resorting to regional solutions, needless of involvement and interference of the others and the aliens.

He also informed the media representatives about the drafting of a framework for regional solution of regional crises aimed at safeguarding peace and security.

An Egyptian reporter asked Ahmadinejad about recent remarks by some US officials regarding the possibility of Iran’s access to nuclear arms within the next couple of years.

Ahmadinejad replied, “The regional nations are not longing for hearing the US commanders’ comments; if someone would decide to live in accordance with the comments of the others he would have to abandon work and begin navigating the others’ comments; but at any rate I believe everyone is free to opine!”

In response to another question by the same reporter on request of come reformist groups for the establishment of a committee to safeguard the people’s votes at the elections, he said that the elections laws are quite clear and transparent in Iran adding that the most precise supervision over any election in the world is conducted in Iran.

Ahmadinejad added, “The first supervisor over the health of the elections is the people, since the organizers and the supervisors are from among the people whom the majority trust and each candidate is entitled the right to have a representative at each ballot to supervise the vote taking process.”

He added, “Some people resort to marginal discussions regarding the elections which they have learned in Western countries, but in our country a healthy trust atmosphere is prevalent, while by resorting to such methods some people merely intend to propagate.”

A Japanese reporter asked about the oil prices, and Ahmadinejad said, “The real price of oil is a lot below its level in the year 1980 today. It is necessary to provide for fair and competitive conditions in which the price of entire goods would be decided logically. Unfortunately the oil market is under the influence of the uneconomic developments of the world, but it is in need of reforms in accordance with economic foundations of the world.”

Ahmadinejad said that the economic worth of a barrel of oil is way above the current oil prices.

A UEA reporter asked Ahmadinejad about the four year performance of his government. He reiterated, “I would report about the matter in a TV address to the people.”

The Los Angeles Times reporter asked about the system of various organs’ functioning in Iran, that the president said, “In order to understand the matter I refer you to study the IRI Constitution, in which the work cycles are clearly defined.”

Ahmadinejad added, “We believe the world problems need to be solved through holding dialogues and in Iraq, too, in order to assist that country’s people and boost security there, our representatives held three rounds of talks with US officials.”

Spain’s Efe news agency reporter asked about the accusations brought up against Iran and Hezbollah on assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri. Ahmadinejad said that such claims are not rare at political atmosphere of the world, adding, “Hariri’s assassination plot was very complicated and we believe it was a plot hatched by the enemies of the Lebanese nation who were after gaining its fruits, but fortunately, today the Lebanese government and nation are both alert and their entire friends should provide for a calm atmosphere for their upcoming elections. Those who fabricate such news cannot affect the political developments in Lebanon.

A Qatari reporter, too, asked about Iran-Syria relations. Ahmadinejad referred to the intimate ties and very close bilateral0 relations, pointing out, “We have shared stands over regional issues. My recent visit was in return for President Assad’s state visit of Tehran.

He added, “Of course the time of the visit affects the issues that will be discussed. We surveyed the developments and adopted the necessary decisions that would affect them.”

Ahmadinejad also stressed that Iran and North Korea have no cooperation in missile technology in response to a Japanese reporter who had asked about the relation between Iran’s Monday missile test and North Korea’s same day nuclear test. He added, “We are opposed to the idea of manufacturing, mass production and stockpiling of nuclear weapons and believe that countries like the United Sates are not capable of leading the political scene of the world that is due to their weak management.”

He added, “The east Asian countries are friends of one another and members of the same civilization. They should talk to North Korea so that the issues would be resolved, and meanwhile the West needs to keep the promises they had vowed to North Korea.”

The BBC Panorama reporter asked the president about the practical steps that the United States has to take towards resolving problems with Iran? Ahmadinejad replied, “The most important change should be in the type of the US leaders’ viewpoints and mentalities. If they would still keep on pursing maximizing the US hegemony, they would not only in the Middle East, but also around the globe keep on facing defeats.”

He added, “The United States has to yield to the reality that its government is like the others and its nation should enjoy equal rights with other nations.”

The Financial Times reporter said you wrote two letters to former US president George W. Bush and one message to Mr. Obama, but no one replied to them. The critics and other candidates believe you have by doing so degraded the level of Iran’s diplomacy at global scene. Mr. Moussavi too has complained that Iran’s level has been decreased to Somalia grade.

Ahmadinejad replied, “Iran’s status in the world is clear. Those who up to three years ago argued that Iran should be wiped off the world map are now competing for having relations with Iran.

He also referred to dozens of friends of the former US president who have criticized him for not responding to his letters, arguing that diplomacy is a scientific matter, not a sentimental issue in which not responding to a letter and resorting to irrational methods would work, about which the world nations have had their interpretations.
