Larijani: Iran will never recognize Zionist regime

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, May 18, IRNA -- Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Monday that under no circumstances will the Islamic Republic of Iran recognize the Zionist regime and believes that any country doing so would be defamed among nations.

Addressing a gathering on 'Palestine and Responsibilities of Nations', he said the recent proposal put forward by the Zionist regime to resolve the issue of Palestine is a mere deception. The US, he said, should be vigilant not fall into the trap of the Zionist scheme.

The plan is doom to fail and cannot last even for a few consecutive days, he added.

To resolve the issue of Palestine, the first move would be to accept the fact that Palestinian nation have the right to exist and this should be achieved through democratic means.

The new proposal of the Zionist is regarded as an imposed and destructive plan, he said adding that it is an insult to the world Muslims that the Zionists regime urge people in the region to welcome a coalition which seeks to sow seeds of discords among Islamic and Arabic nations, he said.

The Zionists' move is roots in the weakness of some Islamic countries, Larijani underlined.

He called on media persons as well as writers and intellectuals to do their utmost to disclose the real identity of the Zionist regime throughout the world.

Larijani urged Islamic states to exercise vigilance in dealing with the issue of Palestine, adding that world public opinions whether Muslims or non-Muslims are awakened and the protests and demonstrations in some countries against occupation of Iraq, 33-day war in Lebanon and 22-day attack on Gaza is a good evidence to the claim.

During the Bush administration, the US tried to use terms such as 'international community' to abuse international organizations to achieve their sinister goals but to no avail, he said.

The US tried to use the same ploy in dealing with Iran's peaceful nuclear technology, he pointed out.

"I believe that there is no real change in US policy during Obama's administration but we will wait to see the real meaning of 'change' in US policies," he said.

Since the Zionists have a strong lobby in the US, many politicians believe that the security of the Zionist regime is on par with the security of one of the US states, he pointed out.

Mistrust in US policies is rooted in the support of that country for the Zionists, he pointed out.

Everyone knows that it was the US which fully backed the Zionists during the war in Gaza by providing them with 300 containers of weapons, Larijani recalled.

The grave mistake of the US is that they labeled the Palestinian and Lebanon's fighters as terrorist groups because they can make no distinction between 'resistance' and 'terrorism', he underlined.

The Islamic Republic of Iran backs liberation movements in the world, he said.

The fact is that the Islamic Republic of Iran has turned into a powerful pole in regional developments while in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine it has played a significant role, he said.

Iran strongly backs the logic and legitimacy of the Lebanese Hezbollah, he said.

In Iran's principled policy, there is no room for nuclear weapons, he said adding, "We have gained access to peaceful nuclear technology and will never deny it but those who make falsehood claims against us should bear in mind that they supplied the Saddam regime with chemical weapons and backed him in his invasion of Iran."
