Supreme Leader: No sign of change in US wrong policies

Tehran, March 11, IRNA - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that the US is now pursuing its previous policies and there is no sign of it making good on in its past mistakes.
The Supreme Leader made the remark in a meeting with visiting Turkish President Abdullah Gul who is now in Tehran to attend the 10th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
There are ample grounds for cooperation between the two countries which should be explored, said the Supreme Leader, adding that ECO is a good pattern for expansion of regional economic cooperation between Iran and Turkey which play a key role in the region.
Iran and Turkey are capable enough to bolster political and security cooperation and render invaluable services to their nations, said Ayatollah Khamenei.
The Supreme Leader expressed satisfaction with the agreements reached between the two presidents on expansion of mutual cooperation and said Turkey’s railways network which connects Iran to Pakistan and southwest Asia is a good example of such broad-based cooperation between the two countries which should be extended to other sectors.
Iran and Turkey should meet their interests given that such expansion of cooperation would trigger hostilities of enemies such as the Zionist regime and the US, said Ayatollah Khamenei.
The two sides' officials are determined to broaden cooperation between the two countries, pointed out the Supreme Leader.
Referring to the Middle East region, the Supreme Leader said the issue of Palestine is on top of agenda of world Muslims, adding that Turkey played a very good role in the issue of Gaza crisis and the country’s premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan did a great job in Davos conference.
Highlighting current developments in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Supreme Leader said the US made big mistakes in Afghanistan and Iraq and the stance taken by the US administration on in Gaza was among their grave mistakes.
The current US administration is now pursuing the pervious wrong policies and there is no sign of any change to this effect, said Ayatollah Khamenei.
The enemies of Islam wish to undermine Islam in Islamic countries including the Islamic Republic of Iran but to no avail, said the Supreme Leader.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was also present in the meeting.
The Turkish president, for his part, described the two sides' relations in the religion and in the world of Islam as exemplary and said Turkey is determined to upgrade the level of its cooperation with Iran.
The Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkey are able to revive the Silk Road, he said.
The issue of Palestine remains on top of agenda of the world as well as the Muslim world, he said, adding that the Islamic countries should forge unity to help alleviate sufferings and pains of the Palestinian people and help them vindicate their rights.
