Tehran, Nov 27, IRNA
Iran-ElBaradei-Nuclear
IAEA Chief Mohammed ElBaradei speaking at the opening meeting of the 35-member Board of Governors at the agency's headquarter in Vienna on Thursday expressed regret over non-delivery of alleged studies against Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.

Addressing the IAEA Board of Governors, he underlined the need for adoption of transparent policy in dealing with alleged nuclear studies and urged the protesting countries to offer their documents at the disposal of the agency.

It is incumbent upon all countries to remain committed to NPT in order to enable the IAEA to provide them with guarantees regarding the safety of their nuclear programs, he said.

IAEA is able to verify non-diversion of Iran's peaceful nuclear program and the body does not intend to intervene in the country's conventional military activities, ElBaradei said.

It is the legitimate right of Iran to protect its classified documents and activities, he said, adding that the IAEA can give required assurances to Iran to enjoy its right, he said.

ElBaradei once again called on Iran to continue with its confidence-building measures and expressed the hope that direct talks among countries would help build trust and restore stability to the Middle East region as soon as possible.
