Iran objects to IAEA over leakage of nuclear information

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Nov 26, IRNA
Iran-IAEA-Protest
Iran objected to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) over the leakage of confidential information from the entity.

Iran's Ambassador to IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh in a letter to the AEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei voiced his country's serious concern about the attitude of the entity on the confidential information.

The letter referred to the publication of materials by the American daily New York Times containing secrets about some faked documents at the disposal of the entity and said that it is not clear for Iran how the information has been leaked.

Leakage of information from the agency will lead to member states' mistrust in the sensitive international agency, the letter noted.

Describing the move as being against international regulations, Soltanieh called on ElBaradei to officially declare falsehood of the materials.

Recalling earlier warnings about the issue, Soltanieh further said that the agency should adopt strong and effective measures to prevent repetition such an event.

Terming information on the documents as false, he also said that the agency has not delivered documents in violation of the modality plan agreed upon by Iran and the agency.

Iran is still adhering to the its commitments towards the agency and has so far cooperated fully with it.
