Iran-Missile-Shamkhani
Head of the armed forces' Center for Strategic Studies Ali Shamkhani said on Sunday that Iran's Sejil missile poses no threat for any country.

Sejil is a 2,000-km range surface-to-surface missile which was newly test fired in Iran.

It is a two-stage, high launching speed missile designed and manufactured by experts of the armed forces.

Shamkhani, former defense minister, said that the missile was manufactured in line with Iran's deterrent policy.

Speaking to IRNA on the sidelines of the 15th International Press and News Agencies Exhibition, Shamkhani said Iran has been under enemies' threats since the victory of its Islamic Revolution in 1979.

"We should confront these threats very seriously," he said.

"We have not been and would not be the beginner of any aggression against other countries," Shamkhani said stressing that Sejil was only produced for defensive purposes.

The missile was test fired on November 12 in the presence of Defense Minister Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad Najjar who stressed Sejil was manufactured in line with "Iran's deterrent policy" to show the country's defensive power.
