Iran-North Korea
Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said in Pyongyang on Wednesday that Iran and North Korea had had the best political ties in the past 30 years.
"We have had the best possible political ties in the past 30 years and have been each other's friends in the time of need. Today too, we should have all-out cooperation through a new approach," said Mottaki in a meeting with North Korean President.
Mottaki said the US, due to failure of its foreign policy during George W. Bush's administration, is not in the position to dictate its wishes on the world's independent states.
"We welcome peaceful talks on unification (of two Koreas) and believe that regional states should solve their problems away of intervention of ultra-regional states," he added.
The North Korean President for his part said, "We laude Iran's positive and effective role in establishment of peace and security in the Middle East, especially the Persian Gulf. We follow up growing achievements of brother country, Iran, and consider the progress as our own."
