Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said in Pyongyang on Wednesday that the US is not in a position to dictate its will on independent states.
"Due to failure of the Bush Administration in foreign policy domain, the US is not in a position to impose its will on independent states," Mottaki told the standing Committee Chairman of North Korean Supreme People's Assembly, Kim Young-nam in Pyongyang on Wednesday.
Mottaki, underlining expansion of relations between Iran and North Korea, said Tehran supports unification of two Koreas.
Kim Young-nam for his part hailed Iran's "key and valuable" role in maintaining stability and peace in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf and said, "We consider Iran's growing achievements in different fields as our own and are happy with that."
He said that despite many troubles and crises at the international level, relations between Iran and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have been solid and growing.
"Despite US repeated procrastination, many challenges created by it and unfair sanctions imposed on North Korea, we are determined to solve our problems through self-sufficiency and reliance on domestic workforce and expand ties with such friendly countries as Iran," said the North Korean official.
In a separate meeting, Mottaki told Head of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly Cho Thae Bok that Iran and North Korea should soon further activate their parliamentary friendship groups and exchange delegates.
Cho Thae Bok said North Korean statesmen are willing to further expand ties with Iran.
He said his country is also well prepared to arrange exchange of visits by Iranian and North Korean parliamentarians within framework of parliamentary friendship groups.
In a meeting with North Korean Foreign Trade Minister Li Kwang-gun, Mottaki called for promotion of bilateral economic relations.
The North Korean minister said North Korea is prepared to have good and balanced ties with Iran in all political, international, economic and cultural domains.
Mottaki arrived in North Korea at the head of a delegation Wednesday morning.
He will leave Pyongyang for Seoul, South Korea, on Thursday.
