Tehran, Oct 29, IRNA
Rapporteur of Majlis Energy Commission Ali Adyani-Rad said on Wednesday that following Iran's admission to World Nuclear Association (WNA), Iran will expedite the project to supply some 20,000 megawatts of electricity from nuclear power plants.
Majlis representatives on Wednesday voted to approve Iran's membership in WNA.
The ratified bill authorized Iran to officially join WNA which is a scientific and specialized non-governmental union.
Until now Iran has been cooperating with WNA unofficially, but following the Majlis ratification, its activities will be conducted officially, he said.
European countries are the main members of WNA, he said.
WNA has four big centers in four countries round the globe, he said adding that one of them is now located in Moscow which covers countries in the region.
WNA's members will exchange technological information and also take advantage from each other's latest technological know-how, he said.
Iran's membership to WNA would help speed up the generation of required nuclear electricity, he said.
