Chinese Foreign Ministry Director General for the Department of Arms Control and Disarmament Cheng Jingye on Thursday appreciated Iranian cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency on nuclear program.

Making the remark in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Beijing Javad Mansouri, Jingye underscored the necessity of resolving the dispute over Tehran's nuclear program via peaceful ways and within the framework of diplomatic negotiations.

On China's stance about the Iranian nuclear program, he added that Beijing has repeatedly announced that it supports peaceful and diplomatic settlement of Iran's nuclear issue.

Calling on all sides involved in Iran's nuclear issue to refrain from doing moves, which exacerbate the situation, he said that all sides should try to resolve the issue through the right and appropriate path.

He further referred to the recent telephone conversation of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi with Secretary of Iran Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili over Iranian package diplomacy, he said Beijing expects all sides to resume nuclear negotiations.

The Chinese official also underlined the need for continued Iran-IAEA cooperation, adding that every country is entitled to receive documents over alleged diversion.

He expressed hope that the issue of alleged studies will be resolved through good cooperation of Iran with IAEA as soon as possible.

Mansouri, for his part, pointed to the new report of IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei on Iran's peaceful nuclear program, adding that the ambiguous report consists of both positive and negative points.

ElBaradei underlined that there is no sign of diversion in Iran's peaceful nuclear program, he said, adding that IAEA has acknowledged there is no lawful document for affirming the alleged studies.

Pointing to the 14 times of unannounced inspection of nuclear facilities in Iran by IAEA inspectors, he noted that they have found no document indicating diversion in the peaceful trend of Iranians' nuclear activities.

The ambassador also assessed the Chinese accountability in the United Nations Security Council as very important, saying that Iran expects the international community and China to help proceed the peaceful settlement of the issue.

Iran's proposals can pave the way for creating positive developments for all sides, he added.
