Iran-US-Dialogue
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Saturday that the time is not ripe for bilateral talks between Iran and the US.
Mottaki said in his address to a gathering of students at Martyr Beheshti University that the time for dialogue between Tehran and Washington would probably come in the future, but today the issue is not on the table.
He referred to the guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution on the issue that Tehran does not want a situation in which the two sides sever relations forever, but for the time-being is not ripe for a thaw.
The current situation and the US strategies prove that the condition is inappropriate for holding negotiation with Americans, he added.
Mottaki further noted that the three rounds of talks between Iran and the US proved that the negotiations took place with the aim of helping Iraqi people and providing them with security and stability in the war-torn country.
Tehran gives priority to stability in Iraq, he said, noting that maintenance of security and stability in the neighboring country will have positive impacts on security in Iran.
Responding to a question that whether Tehran would hold talks with Israel to help Palestinian oppressed people, he said, "We consider the Tel Aviv regime as illegitimate and fake and have reservations about its credential with the United Nations."
