Iran-Nuclear-Mottaki
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Wednesday that Iran expects the IAEA to act within framework of laws and regulations and free from any discrimination and political motivation.
Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of weekly cabinet session, Mottaki said, "We expect the IAEA and the international institutions affiliated to the UN to act within framework of regulations and free from any discrimination."
He stressed, "Our constructive cooperation with the IAEA will follow its natural and logical course within the NPT framework." Asked about foreign media claim that Iran and the US had reached a secret deal over the nuclear issue and that Iran has accepted international supervision over its enrichment plan in exchange for the US' offering security guarantees, Mottaki said, "We have had no demand in connection with the nuclear issue. From our point of view, nuclear issue has come to a close."
Noting that the Iran-IAEA cooperation will continue, Mottaki said, "We have had no demand for security guarantee."
As for Iran and the G5+1 proposed packages, Mottaki said Iran's package had been sent to its destination and the country is busy studying certain reactions to it.
"The most important of them (the reactions) is that Iran's proposed package has been identified by the other parties as vestigatable and important and obviously our treatment of the other party's package too will be the same."
The top diplomat said the EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana has called for visiting Iran to offer the G5+1 package and the bid has been welcomed in principle but the date will be announced once specified.
To a question whether foreign ministers of European states too have asked for paying a visit to Tehran, Mottaki said no such a request has been made from Iranian officials.
