Soltaniyeh: IAEA boars of governors unauthorized to ratify any resolution

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Vienna, March 3, IRNA
Iran-IAEA-Nuclear
Iran's Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh said on Monday that the Board of Governors is not authorized to confirm any resolution against Tehran.

Soltaniyeh made the remark in an exclusive interview with IRNA here where he said that issuance of a resolution against Iran by the Board of Governors is a propaganda campaign.

Denouncing the rumours by certain western diplomats, he further noted that the issue does not have any legal basis under current situation.

The current atmosphere of the Board of Governors is not ready for such moves, because the recent report of IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei as well as his remarks at today's session have been in contradiction with the goals being pursued by certain countries.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the one-week seasonal gathering of the Board of Governors, ElBaradei said that all outstanding issues of the work plan agreed upon by Iran and IAEA have been settled and the agency can conclude that there are no more questions on the country's nuclear program.

Soltaniyeh further said that the statement, which has been recently issued by the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in support of Iran's peaceful nuclear activities, indicated that the Board of Governors is not ready to ratify such resolutions.

The Islamic Republic of Iran advises certain countries to avoid making such mistakes, because the Vienna-based board should not be misled, he underlined.
