IAEA report documents Iran has answered to all questions

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Dubai, March 2, IRNA
Iran-IAEA-Report
The report the International Atomic Energy Agency released on February 22 is a document that Iran has answered all the questions raised by the specialized agency about Iranian nuclear program, Iran's Embassy in Oman said in a statement.

IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei said in his report that Iran answered all the questions put forward by the agency so that all the six outstanding issues were resolved, it said.

The statement said that ElBaradei has verified non-diversion of Iran's nuclear program.

The IAEA report proved that Iran has never been pursuing nuclear energy for military purposes, the statement said, adding that the UN nuclear watchdog has verified that the six cases have been closed and that the process of monitoring Iran's nuclear case has become "routine".

The Islamic Republic of Iran stresses continuation of constructive cooperation with the IAEA and believes that any obstacle in the way of the process would damage the regional peace, stability, tranquility and security, the statement issued by the Iranian embassy in Oman added.

The statement reiterated that no political or economic pressure would make Iranian nation withdraw from its legitimate right to produce nuclear energy.

Praising the principled stands taken by the friendly states in supporting Iran's nuclear right, the statement said that the IAEA is the only official body to examine nuclear activities of the world countries.

The report proves that there exists no reason for any debate over Iran's peaceful nuclear program at the Security Council, it said.

ElBaradei in his report said that the agency has made good progress in clarifying the outstanding issues relating to Iran's past nuclear activities.

"We have managed to clarify all the remaining outstanding issues, which is the scope and nature of Iran's enrichment program," the IAEA chief said in the 11-page report presented to the agency's Board of Governors.

Elbaradei called on Iran to accept Additional Protocol to Non-Proliferation Treaty to make easy monitoring Iranian nuclear activities in future.

Iran said that it will accept the Additional Protocol upon return of Iranian file from the Security Council to the Vienna-based UN specialized agency.

Iran had accepted the Additional Protocol to NPT which grants intrusive inspection to the IAEA, but, it suspended the protocol in protest at Iran referral to the United Nations Security Council.
