Iran urges UN Security Council not to make unreasonable decision

Iran urged the United Nations Security Council on Saturday not to make any unreasonable decision about Iran.

"The Security Council should return Iran's nuclear case to the International Atomic Energy Agency and normalize the issue at the agency's Board of Governors according to what was previously agreed between Iran and the IAEA," Government spokesman, Gholam-Hossein Elham said, in reference to the clean health bill Iran got from IAEA on February 22 after six-month intensive work on Modality Plan signed by the two parties last August.

IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei in his report to the Board of Governors verified non-diversion of Iranian nuclear program.

Speaking to reporters, he added, "It is becoming clear to everyone today that Iran's nuclear issue was basically an excuse for the West to harm Iranians by the illegal UN Security Council resolutions." "Their real problem with Iran is the independence of Iranian nation and its government," Elham said.

He stressed that adoption of more resolutions against Iran would not have any impact on state of affairs.

The spokesman expressed hope that the UN Security Council would not step in the path of issuing another resolution against Iran and would not put under question its credibility in the international community.

"We hope that enemies of Iran would not make such mistake," Elham stressed.

He added, "If they are after adopting another resolution against Iran, they should know it is not possible to stop a country from its legitimate work by exerting pressure or adopting resolution."
