Vaeedi: Next resolution unrelated to nuclear issue

The next UN Security Council resolution has nothing to do with the nuclear issue, rather it follows certain political objectives.
Addressing a seminar on Iran's nuclear case, Vaeedi said that the westerners are using Iran's nuclear issue as a mere pretext.
"They (westerners) believe the resolution will lead to a change in Iran's attitude which in turn will be a prelude to change in governing system," he added.
He said that such anti-Iran posture will constitute interference in the country's internal affairs and the destiny of the nation.
The West, in fact, wants to give the message to the Iranian people that the course they have chosen is costly, he added.
The official said if the West has not yet issued another resolution, it is not out of their goodwill.
He pointed out that the West will issue resolution when they become optimistic that it will affect their role in Iran's domestic scene.
"We believe in the course we are pursuing. The belief will make us confident about our approach which is rooted in our past experience." Citing that no official negates the possibility of issuance of a resolution, Vaeedi said, "One should ensure the country's
independence. If your rival comes to find out that you regard procrastination as your weak point, rest assured that you have given your foe feedback."
He said that he considered prospects of the nuclear case to be brighter and more illuminating than the eight-year Iraqi imposed war (1980-88) and 'I believe in the way we are proceeding'.
He stressed that if the westerners issue a resolution, Tehran will reciprocate.
