Iran's Ambassador to Uzbekistan Mohammad Fathali said on Saturday that the IAEA is the only authorized and well-credited body to comment on nuclear issues, so recent report of ts chief annulled false claims of some powers about Iran's nuclear activities.
"The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is the only authorized and authoritative body to comment on nuclear issues.
So, recent report of the IAEA Chief (Mohamed ElBaradei) regarding non-diversion of Iran from international regulations proves baselessness of claims raised by certain powers over our country's nuclear program," Fathali told IRNA.
Fathali said that Iran, based on the Islamic ideological principles and guidelines of the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution, is against production of weapons of mass destruction.
He said Iran is initiator of the idea of the nuclear free Middle East at the UN and other international forums.
The diplomat opined that Iran's nuclear activities are peaceful and the country intends to use advantages of the technology for economic development and to enhance the standard of living of its citizens.
He said certain powers, which see independence, self-confidence and scientific and technological progress of nations in contradiction with their hostile goals and interests, raised baseless claims in an effort to obstruct the Iranian nation's advancement.
He added that illegal referral of Iran's case to the UN Security Council is also the result of the same hegemonic policies.
The diplomat said recent report of ElBaradei is a sign of victory for Iran's nuclear diplomacy.
As for impact of the report on Iran's position on international scene, Fathali said the report proved righteousness of Iran and falsehood of the claims raised by those sending Iran's case to the UN Security Council.
The ambassador said vigilance and bravery of senior Iranian officials, national unity and sincere perseverance in the path of reconstruction and development were the most important reasons for Iran's success in mastering nuclear sciences and making remarkable chievements in the field.
IAEA Director General Mohamed ElBaradei Friday circulated his latest report on nuclear safeguards in Iran to the Agency's Board of Governors, the 35-member policy making body.
