Tehran, Feb 11, IRNA
Iran-Bahman 22-Statement
The great nation on Monday reaffirmed national resolve to attain the rights enshrined by Non-Proliferation Treaty.

A 10-point statement, read out at the large convention at Azadi Square, said that Iran has acted beyond its legal commitments to the International Atomic Energy Agency and other foreign parties and has shown extreme goodwill and patience to prove that Iranian nuclear program is civilian to produce electricity.

"So, the Iranian nation declares strongly that will never give up uranium enrichment under pressure and sanctions," announced the statement.

It also warned against provoking more anti-Iran resolutions by the UN Security Council, saying the group of states, which have through publicity and under vain pretexts been trying to deny the Iranian nation's right to produce nuclear energy, will be held accountable for new anti-Iran sanctions.

The statement made it clear that Iranian nation will never give concession to those who threaten Iran aimed to deprive the nation of its legitimate rights.

The people hailed the country's scientific achievements, including those in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, medicine, defense and the successful inauguration of a space center for launching research satellite units into the space, calling them 'blessings of the Islamic Revolution'.

The statement invited all political groups and communions of Islamic school of thought to unity and Islamic integrity as the pressing need of Muslim Ummah.

It said any effort to harm the unity and solidarity would serve the world arrogance.

The statement described the occupation regime of Israel as symbol of racism, genocide, state terrorism and factor of instability and insecurity in the sensitive Middle East region.

It voiced support for the oppressed Palestinian nation and their democratically elected government (general election was held in Palestine in January 2006).

The large convention called on the Organization of the Islamic Conference and other international forums to take action to stop brutal measures of the Zionist regime.

It condemned savage massacre and aggression, bloodshed and turmoil and huge economic pressure on Gazans, saying all the incidents are the outcome of US President George W. Bush's visit to the Middle East and his unconditional support for Israeli crimes.

The statement deplored the continued insecurity and crisis in Lebanon saying that the current political stalemate would be against interests of all parties in the country, stressing the need for immediate consensus to be made on the next president based on the country's Constitution.

It then condemned foreign interference in the country's internal affairs.

The statement voiced resentment at the US' denial of nations' rights and middle-age-style torture of inmates at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo prisons.

It also held the occupiers in Iraq and Afghanistan as responsible for security of the Iraqi and Afghan nations calling for immediate pullout of foreign troop and ceding affairs to the Iraqi and Afghan governments.

Terming high public turnout in the 8th Majlis elections in Iran as an "Islamic and religious duty" and as a means to safeguard religious democracy in the country, it called on officials to honor the Constitution and guidelines of the Supreme Leader in vouching qualification of candidates.

It also urged avoiding any hue and cry and insults in the run-up to the election so that healthy polls to be held in March.

The nation voiced its support for all the officials in their efforts to administer justice, serve masses, create jobs and eliminate poverty, corruption and discrimination.

The statement said the nation is ready to strongly defend Iran's territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Islamic Republic.

The people expressed allegiance to the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and honored memory of martyrs of the Islamic Revolution and the eight-year US-backed Iraqi-imposed war (1980-1988).
