Yeltsin Denies Transfer of Missile Technology to Iran

MOSCOW, Mar 12 (Interfax) -- Russian President Boris Yeltsin has assured the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Moscow has not delivered missile systems to Iran and has no intentions of doing so, Netanyahu told a final news conference in Moscow Wednesday [12 March] at the end of his official visit to Russia. His Tuesday meeting with Yeltsin was planned as part of the visit. Nevertheless, he said the sides agreed to keep in touch on the question and continue consultations. Continuing the Iranian subject Netanyahu claimed Tehran would use nuclear arms without hesitation, if only it got them and the means of their delivery. He said Israel will be the first but not the last target of attack. This is a threat to Europe, Moscow, Jiddah and Cairo, he said. The Israeli prime minister said the present regime in Iran is the most dangerous in the world and it is the duty of the civilized world to prevent the appearance of nuclear arms and ballistic missiles as the means of their delivery in Iran.
