India to Buy 145 M777 Howitzers From US - Defense Ministry

The India's Defense Acquisition Council approved purchase of 145 M777 howitzers from the United States, according to an official statement.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) – India will buy 145 M777 howitzers from the United States, the Indian Defense Ministry said Saturday.

The Defense Acquisition Council headed by Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar held a meeting at the Defense Ministry earlier in the day.

The council also approved projects on naval dockyards modernization worth 3.86 billion rupees ($56.75 million), bulk production of 155mm Dhanush howitzers, as well as cleared six next generation missile vessels.
