An Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft crashed near Jataura village, some 15 kilometers from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, this afternoon.

Initial reports said both the pilot and the navigator baled out safely.

The plane, a Canberra reconnaissance aircraft, crashed near Jataura village immediately after take-off from Agra air base, police said.

Initial reports said the two occupants of the aircraft -- the pilot and navigator -- had ejected safely.

There was no damage on the ground.

The Canberra aircraft was of the 1950 vintage that were initially inducted into the IAF as bombers.
