o On February 10, Korean Central TV of North Korea reported, “Kim Jong-il, accompanied by Kim Young-il (cabinet premier), Tae Jong-su (chief secretary of the South Hamgyeong Province party chapter), Kim Gyung-hee and Jang Sung-taek (directors of the Workers’ Party), etc., revisited the February 8 Vinylon Combined Enterprise and inspected the manufacturing process of vinylon cotton.” (His visit to the Enterprise was also reported on February 8.)

[Outside North Korea]

o On February 9, North Korea’s KCNA reported, “On (February) 8, Kim Jong-il met and had a banquet with a visiting Chinese delegation headed by Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.”

[Inter-Korean Issues]

o On February 8, North Korea’s KCNA reported, “The two Koreas held a working-level meeting in Gaeseong on (February) 8 for resumption of South Koreans’ tourism to Mt. Geumgang and the Gaeseong District.” It added, “The two sides failed to clinch any agreement during the meeting and decided to continue negotiations over resumption of tourism to Mt. Geumgang and the Gaeseong District.”
