Kim Jong Il Realizes President's Wish

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, February 18 (KCNA) -- In recent years many rural communities of Korea including the Migok, Tongbong and Unhung co-op farms have taken on a new look to suit the socialist features of a thriving nation.

The wonderful reality is a precious result of Kim Jong Il's leadership for realizing President Kim Il Sung's lifetime wish to see the Korean people live in tile-roofed houses, eating rice with meat soup and wearing silk clothes.

The President made the Korean peasants owners of lands for the first time in the history of the country through the agrarian reform in the 20th century while Kim Jong Il has provided solid foundations for the prosperity of the country through a large-scale land rezoning in the 21st century.

Thanks to Kim Jong Il's wise guidance many fish, chicken, pig and goat farms have appeared throughout the country and a large number of rural communities have raised double or triple crops a year and introduced methane gas supply system for cooking and electric heating system in the era of Songun.

Nature-driven waterways have been constructed one after another and fresh successes registered in improving seed selection and potato and bean farming.

Kim Jong Il has unfolded a grand plan to bring about a radical turn in the people's living standard by accelerating the development of light industry and agriculture once again this year.

He has continued to give field guidance to the agricultural sector for the prosperity of the country and happiness of the people.

Now the agricultural working people are exerting every effort to have a rich harvest this year and support Kim Jong Il's plan for the building of a thriving nation with increased grain production.
