- Kim Jong-Il’s public activity - North Korean Media reported Kim Jong-Il’s public activities for twice from August 17 to 23.
- The performance: Guards under the Neon– Rodong Sinmun reported on August 17 that the North has played Guards under the Neon.
Inter-Korean Affairs
- North Korea ’s report on the death of the former South Korean president Kim Dae-jung- The North reported news related to Kim Dae-jung’s death: the North sent a telegram of condolence, delegation’s visit to the South, the delegation’s meeting with president Lee Myung-bak. The issue is reported by Korean Central News Agency, Korean Central Television, Central Broadcasting Station from August 19 to 23)
- The North’s denouncement of Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG) – The Korean Central News Agency reported on August 17 regarding the annual Korea-US joint military exercise (UFG.). The North media cited the spokesperson’s statement from Committee for Peaceful Unification of the Fatherland. It said that improving inter-Korean relations and peace would ring hollow amid ongoing efforts to exercise a war to attack the North.
Foreign Affairs
- The North’s claim that US recognized Kwangmyongsong-2 as a satellite – The North claimed that U.S has recognized Kwangmyongsong-2 as a satellite citing NASA homepage.
