- Appointment of Tae Jong-su as the chief secretary of Hamgyung province’s party committee - The deputy prime minister was recently appointed as chief secretary of South Hamgyung Province ’s party committee.
- Exhibition of consumer products on August 3 – The exhibition was held from August 3 to 6 in the ‘Third Revolution Exhibition Hall. It is reported by Korean Central News Agency on August 3.
- Pyongyang International Fair of Construction and Book - The fair was held from August 3 to 5 and it is reported by Korean Central News Agency on August 3.
Inter-Korean Affairs
- Improving inter-Korean relations under the spirit of ‘unity between the two Koreas’ - Rodong Sinmun and Pyongyang Broadcasting Service reported on August 8 that the North called for ‘Improving inter-Korean relations’ under the spirit of ‘Unity between the Two Koreas’ The report unusually claimed that taking realistic actions to realize cooperation and exchanges is a practical way of upgrading inter-Korean relations in a fundamental manner.
Foreign Affairs
- Former U.S president Clinton ’s visit to Pyongyang – Bill Clinton, the former U.S. president visited North Korea to release the detained two American journalists from August 4 to 5. He met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il and attended a dinner hosted by Military and Defense Committee.
