Internal Affairs
- Kim Jong-Il’s public activity during the last week of July - North Korean media have reported Kim Jong-Il’s public activity twice from July 27 to August 2.
- Cooperative farms’ competition to increase agriculture production – Chosun Shinbo reported North Korea cooperative farms’ competition to enhance agricultural production on July 29. The competition is widespread among major cooperative farms, including Shinam Cooperative Farm in Yeongcheon-gun of the North Pyeongyan Province .
- Pyongyang Broadcasting Services reported on July 30 that Department of Army and Navy held a protest meeting on July 29 regarding building the Dancheon Port.
- Death of Yeo Won-gu, the president of Democratic Front for the Unification of the Fatherland - Korean Central Television reported the death of Yeo Won-gu, delegate of Supreme People’s Assembly and head of the Democratic Front. He was at the age of 81.
Inter-Korean Affairs
- The North has reported that Korean government has suppressed ‘those who are supporting unification and patriots’ The North has criticized South Korea for suppressing ‘those who are supporting unification and patriots’ by citing the investigation of South Korea’s committee to implement June 15 Joint Declaration for violating National Security Law. (July 24 to 25, Korean Central News Agency, Uriminzokkiri )
Foreign Affairs
- Spokesperson from foreign affairs’ department announced the North’s stance that it would refuse the six-party talks and called for U.S.-North dialogue. In a statement on July 27 from foreign affair’s department, the North said that the Six-Party Talks had been tainted irreversibly by opponents and there is another way to revolve the current situation.
