Kim Jong Il Gives On-the-Spot Guidance to Hamhung University of Medicine

Pyongyang, May 29 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il gave on-the-spot guidance to Hamhung University of Medicine.
He first went round the monument to the on-the-spot guidance given by President Kim Il Sung and the monument to his on-the-spot instructions standing in the compound of the university and the room devoted to its history.
The university founded and developed on the direct initiative of the President and under his meticulous guidance has turned into a reliable centre of the country for training health care talents, he said, adding that the care shown by the President for promoting the people's health would always be remembered by the Korean people.
Then he moved on to the education and science exhibition of the university.
Looking round the exhibits on display, he learned in detail about the successes made by the teachers and students of the university in the development of the education and the medical science researches and expressed satisfaction over a lot of work done by them.
Then he learned about how education is conducted at the university, making the rounds of its different practice rooms. He praised the university for having successfully built practice centers so as to give students practical knowledge by closely combining lectures with practices.‚– After walking round the university, he put forward important tasks which would serve as guidelines for teaching and education and scientific researches at the university.
He said that our party greatly satisfied with the great contribution the university has made to the development of the nation's public health by creditably performing its mission and duty for the last six decades since its foundation.
Noting that the graduates from the university are playing a core role in the field of public health still today, he highly appreciated the feats performed by the teachers and students of the university for the party, revolution, country and people.
He underscored the need for the university to steadily improve and strengthen the education as required by the developing reality in order to train more talented medical scientists.
The most important task facing the university is to bring up its students as genuine revolutionaries who are not only boundlessly faithful to the party and the revolution but deeply love human beings, he noted.
Sincerity is an attribute of socialist public health serving the popular masses and its lifeblood, he stressed, underlining the need for the university to intensify the politico-ideological education and thus train all its students into people's genuine servants having profound humanity.
He called for thoroughly establishing Juche in education, combining it with practice and steadily improving teaching methods in order to train students into able medical workers required by the times.
He met with the educators of merits who have contributed to the development of the nation's public health by devoting all their wisdom and energies to the scientific researches and education at the university for years and warmly encouraged them before having a picture taken with them.
He was accompanied by Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Pak Nam Gi, its department director.
