Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration and October 4 Declaration Called for

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, May 16 (KCNA) -- The October 4 declaration serves as a programme for implementing the historic June 15 joint declaration in all fields and the independent reunification and peace and prosperity of the Korean nation can be guaranteed only when the Koreans firmly defend and implement the October 4 declaration, says Rodong Sinmun Friday in a signed article.
The October 4 declaration serves as a banner inspiring the Korean nation to work for independent development and reunification, the article says, and goes on:
The October 4 declaration is based on the principle of national independence, the cornerstone for national reunification, and it fully embodies "By our nation itself", the idea representing the June 15 era of reunification.
The idea of "By our nation itself" serves as an ideological and moral engine encouraging the members of the nation to independently settle the national issue, the reunification issue, by the concerted efforts of the nation, while rejecting the outsiders in the strong spirit of national independence.
The October 4 declaration also serves as an action program for solving all problems arising in developing the inter-Korean relations and achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula and prosperity common to the nation and its reunification.
Clarified in the declaration are specific orientation for developing the inter-Korean relations and peace and prosperity based on the spirit of "By our nation itself" and ways to do so.
It is a bounden duty of all members of the Korean nation to hold fast to the October 4 declaration as guidelines in the June 15 era of reunification and work hard for its implementation.
Intolerable are such rash acts of the Lee Myung Bak group as denying and downplaying the significance of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration in the history of the nation, while pursuing an anti-reunification "policy toward the north," policy characterized by sycophancy toward the U.S.
The Korean nation will have a rosy future only when it implements the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, a programme for materializing the June 15 joint declaration.
