Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il inspected KPA Unit 1643. He watched soldiers' training after acquainting himself with the unit's performance of duty.
He set forth tasks to be fulfilled by the unit to increase its combat capacity, expressing great satisfaction over the fact that officers and men of the unit have put the training on a scientific and regular basis as required by the WPK's policy of training to prepare themselves as a-match-for-a hundred fighters.
Feasting his eyes on the compound of the barracks clad in thick verdure of various species of trees and mountain ridges around it, he learned about how the unit has turned them into a thick woodland and greenery. He highly appreciated patriotism displayed by the servicepersons of the unit in having created more than 50 hectares of forests and taken good care of them.
Going round an educational room, a bedroom, a mess hall and entertainment, educational and supply service facilities, he told the officers to work hard to provide the soldiers with better living conditions and taught ways to do so.
He gave servicepersons of the unit a pair of binoculars, a machine gun and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a photo session with them.
