Young People Called upon to Play Pace-Setter's Role in All Fields

   Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- The Korean youth movement will always emerge victorious as long as there are the invincible ranks of youth advancing along the road of the Juche revolution indicated by the "Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU)" and the great Workers' Party of Korea's idea of attaching importance to the youth and its leadership. Rodong Sinmun today says this in an editorial dedicated to the Youth Day. The history of the youth movement in the DPRK is a proud one in which the movement has advanced along the most correct path indicated by President Kim Il Sung since it was started by him, the editorial notes, and goes on:
    Kim Jong Il is the great leader of the Korean youth movement as he successfully embodied the President's unique idea of the youth movement and has trained the youth as reliable successors to the cause of Juche that started from the days of the DIU.
    The ideological and moral traits of the Korean youth have reached an exceptionally high stage in the era of Songun led by Kim Jong Il.
    All the youth should hold aloft the banner of devotedly defending the leader generation after generation, the banner dating back to the early period of the Korean revolution.
    The core of the tradition of the Korean youth movement is to devotedly defend the leader.
    It is the most honorable mission and duty for the younger generation, the proud successors to the tradition of the Korean youth movement, to become fighters and standard-bearers implementing Kim Jong Il's Songun idea and line.
    It is an important task before the young people to fully display their honor of being vanguard and a shock force in every work site for the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.
    They should stubbornly fight for the final victory in the revolution with the firm faith in socialism of Korean style.
    They should also turn out in the drive to learn from the revolutionary soldier culture with the determination to become pioneers in establishing new culture representing the times.
