S. Korean Military Authorities Urged to Clarify Its Stand

Korean Central News Agency of DPRK via Korea News Service (KNS)

Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- The defence minister of south Korea talked about "a strong army," revealing the intention to go ahead with south Korea-U.S. joint military exercises aimed at attacking the north though the nation lives in the June 15 era of reunification. Minju Joson Thursday in a signed commentary terms it sophism, urging the south Korean military authorities to clarify whether they stand for reconciliation and cooperation or for confrontation and war.
    The commentary goes on:
The south Korean military authorities announced that they would stage the joint military exercises with the U.S. as scheduled at a time when the talks between the military authorities of the north and the south are on the doorstep. This is an indication that they are still regarding the north as "the principal enemy" and they are not interested in the above-said military talks.
Dialogue and war exercises can never go together.
It is an unpardonable crime that a person responsible for those talks made such remarks spoiling the atmosphere of dialogue, agitating confrontation and war. It is as clear as noonday that if they stage such joint military exercises with the U.S. at any cost, this will only result in stoking distrust between the north and the south and escalating the tension and, furthermore, playing havoc with the results of the hard work jointly done by the north and the south.
