- Armitage Urges North Korea to Follow Example of Libya on WMD Washington File 24 Dec 2003 -- Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage said that if North Korea chose to follow the recent example of Libya and rid itself of its weapons of mass destruction programs, the country "would very rapidly find herself integrated into the vibrant community of East Asia." Armitage, in a December 23 interview with Nikkei Press, added, "I don't think she is going to do that, but it would be wonderful."
- U.S. Increases 2003 Contribution to World Food Program for North Korea Washington File 24 Dec 2003 -- The United States will donate an additional 60,000 metric tons of agricultural commodities to North Korea's people through the World Food Program's (WFP) 2003 emergency feeding operation, bringing total U.S. contributions to the WFP for North Korea to 100,000 metric tons in 2003, State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher announced in a December 24 statement.
- U-S / NORTH KOREA AID VOA 24 Dec 2003 -- The United States announced Wednesday it is providing another 60-thousand metric tons of food aid to North Korea. Bush administration officials say they're still dissatisfied with the transparency of food distribution in North Korea, but are responding to an emergency appeal by the United Nations' World Food Program, the W-F-P.
- Japan's Intention to Stifle DPRK Assailed KCNA 24 Dec 2003 -- The Japanese reactionaries invited delegates of 14 countries including the United States and Australia to Tokyo recently and held the so-called "Asian Conference on Non-proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction" in a bid to lay an international siege to the DPRK.
