When asked to comment about the attention on the island of Taiwan on the recent commissioning of the Fujian, China's first electromagnetic catapults-equipped aircraft carrier, which marked Chinese mainland's entry into the three-carrier era, with some media noting that it fully demonstrates the remarkable improvement in the mainland's new quality productive forces and national defense capabilities, Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said that from the aircraft carrier Liaoning to the Shandong, and then to the Fujian, the advent of the three-carrier era is a major achievement in China's national defense and military development. It represents a solid step forward for the PLA toward becoming a world-class military, and Chinese people at home and abroad are all proud of this.
The PLA Navy, growing increasingly powerful and forging ahead across the deep blue, will more effectively safeguard China's vast maritime territories, defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and defeat any forces and schemes that attempt to infringe upon or split China's sacred territory, Chen said at a regular press conference on Wednesday.
