Kavashgar-4 Improved Sounding Rocket

Iran plans to introduce in the next fiscal year an improved version of its tactical ballistic missile Zezal/Fatch-110 called Kavashgar-4 (Explorer-4) sounding rocket [vertical Probe]. It has become the basic research rocket for with a multiple experiment payload carrying capacity. This vertical probe rocket can reach an altitude of at 120 kilometers (75 miles) according to Iran. Its first successful flight tested took place on March 17, 2011. A stacked three experimental payload package design was placed on display in the Iranian congress building. Among the experiments are various bio-medical living monkey animal carrying space payload and other payloads not described. To date there have been a total of three acknowledged Kavashgar type experimental launches.
