Integrated Technology Demonstrations (U)
Overview (U):
(U) This subthrust demonstrates application of integrated technologies or validation of technology maturity through demonstrations. These technologies may have been developed within the Phillips Laboratory or through external agencies. The subthrust develops realistic space experiments based on emerging technologies to demonstrate that these technologies can be applied to user-defined concepts.
(U) The Integrated Space Technology Demonstration (ISTD) program produces user-focused technology demonstrations to facilitate timely technology transition. The Clark mission is being conducted in cooperation with NASA as a precursor to a future hyperspectral ISTD mission.Details (U):

Description (U):
(U) The Clark 3-Meter Imaging Satellite Mission: The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is developing a 690 lb high technology satellite to provide 3-meter resolution panchromatic and 15 -meter resolution multispectral images. This program is a NASA initiative to rapidly build smaller, less expensive, high technology satellites. Phillips Laboratory has entered into an agreement with NASA to leverage the Clark satellite. The lab will perform scientific demonstrations for Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) to address Surveillance & Treat Warning (S&TW) Mission Area Plan (MAP) deficiencies. Not only has an S-band transmitter been installed on the satellite, but performance modifications to the bus and purchase of a mobile ground station were accomplished to enhance this demonstration. Conceptually, from within the field, the mobile ground station will task Clark with imaging instructions, receive data, and prepare images for output to the Commander in near real-time.
