Antigua (U)

Overview (U):

(U) The Antigua radar station is a part of the Eastern Range (ER), which consists of a series of stations located at Cape Canaveral Air Station (CCAS) and Jonathan Dickinson Missile Tracking Annex (JDMTA) on the Florida mainland, and on the Atlantic Ocean island of Ascension, as well as Argentina. The Antigua radar station is also part of a worldwide network and supports the Air Force Satellite Control Network (AFSCN).

Description (U):

(U) Precision tracking radars are located at Antigua, Cape Canaveral, Merritt Island, Jonathan Dickinson Missile Tracking Annex (JDMTA), Patrick Air Force Base (PAFB), and Ascension Island. Radars are capable of either beacon or echo tracking and provide real-time data to the CCAS Range Operations Control Center (ROCC) computers.

(U) Telemetry Support consists of land based stations at Antigua, JDMTA, and Ascension Island. Real-time data are available at CCAS via satellite communication from Antigua and Ascension Island, and via microwave from JDMTA. Telemetry aircraft support is provided by ARIA EC-135s and EC-18s from Edwards AFB.

(U) Antigua Island instrumentation and associated facilities will be consolidated in a newly completed building, providing an expanded long-term capability to support requests to use the station more cost-effectively.

(U) The 45th Space Wing is host organization for PAFB, CCAS, and the island stations of the ER.
