50th Operations Support Squadron - Current Operations Flight
The Current Operations Flight, 50th Operations Support Squadron, is responsible for all operations group mission-ready space operations training, support functions to facilitate training and battle staff contingency operations.
The flight interprets, develops, and implements education/training and crew force management policies, and maintains satellite simulators to achieve and enhance the Operations Group's mission.
Its key products are trained mission-ready instructors; mission-ready training documentation and standardization; simulation policy and administration; simulation hardware and network support; enlisted specialty training policy and administration; and computer based training programs.
As of August 2001, the flight was organized into five sections:
- The group operations training section develops and implements mission-ready training and training policies for over 500 space operators of seven Department of Defense satellite programs valued at $54 billion for the 50th Operations Group.
- The satellite operations simulator section is the primary focal point in the development and management of the satellite operations simulators.
- The group education and training section manages the enlisted specialty training program for more than 900 enlisted personnel in the 50th Operations Group.
- The interactive courseware section uses cutting-edge technology to develop dynamic, multi-media training products to support the training mission.
- The contingency operations section operationalizes, standardizes and normalizes all battle staff and crisis response element processes and training programs to comprehensively prepare for effective 50th Space Wing response in all types of worldwide contingencies ensuring space superiority.
Prior to that, as of June 1, 2001, the flight had been organized into three section:
- The Simulation/CTE Section managed all simulators within the 50th Operations Group utilized by crews in 1,3, and 4 SOPS and 534 TRS (Vandenberg) for operations training and launch rehearsal.
- The Mission Ready Training Section governed all operations training and standardization. This section ensured all mission-ready training materials are compliant with ISD and applicable AFSPC instructions; and also served as the training agency for all instructors within the Operations Group and 50th Operations Group representative between HQ AFSPC and AETC.
- The Education & Training Section was responsible to the OG for all aspects of Enlisted Specialty Training, coordinateing annual training requirements for 50th Operations Group personnel, providing instruction system development subject matter to 39 work centers, educating all personnel on program responsibilities, and supervising 27 unit education and training managers.
