General Artigas Replenishment Ship
The ROU 04 "Gral. Artigas" was built in 1966 by the Blohm & Voss shipyards in Hamburg and was put into service in 1968. He began to serve the Deutsche Marine under the name A1413 "Freiburg" (Klasse 701E), as a logistical support vessel for Type 122 Frigates. In 1988 a modification was made that extended it 15 meters, in order to add storage for torpedoes.
On 6 April 2005, the National Pavilion at the Wilhelmshaven Naval Base (Germany) was transferred. In 2006 the torpedo warehouse for troop transport was modified. In 2007 the 4 main generators were changed and overhaul to one of the main engines. Refitted with helipad, teh ship is used for helicopter patrol & transport.
