It was built in the Arsenal of VEB PEENEMUNDE, in the city of WOLGAST (ex RDA) in 1959, under the name of "ZINGST" number 443. In 1968 it undergoes structural modifications to adapt it as icebreakers. It was flagged the 8 of November of 1991 with the name of ROU 27 "BANK ORTIZ".
It is a salvage vessel and height tug, although it can also be used as a tug and harbor. The vessel has been successfully employed in support of SERBA, GRUBU, SOHMA as a search and rescue vessel and mainly as a unit to support the fleet in joint operations and mines and countermined operations.
