Kub 2P25M1 2K12 / SA-6 "Gainful"
The Slovak authorities decided to transfer a batch of the Kube air defense system (NATO reporting name: SA-6 "Gainful") to the Ukrainian army. The provisionally appointed government of Eduard Heger decided to send 2 pieces of launchers of the KUB anti-aircraft missile system, a control system and also related spare parts and missiles. The Armed Forces of Ukraine are armed with the Kube complexes improved in 2021. They are called "Square-2D".
The Minister of Defense of the Slovak Republic Jaroslav Nad and the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Slovak Republic Myroslav Kastran signed the corresponding intergovernmental agreement today in the premises of the Department of Defense. "The situation Ukraine is in requires real-time solutions. Today, Slovakia is sending a clear signal that it is on the right side of history. The greatest value is human life, that's why I believe that thanks to Slovak technology it will be possible to protect them as much as possible," said Minister of Defense Jaroslav Nad.
As confirmed by the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Eduard Heger, Slovakia provided systems to Ukraine to protect civilians from a large number of bombs."Just as the S-300 system we provided saved thousands of lives, so will these fighter jets save thousands of lives," he said. At the same time, he rejected nonsensical claims that this step is dragging Slovakia into war. "It is not so, the Slovak Republic is part of the strongest defense alliance in the world - NATO, and thanks to this alliance we are protected better than we have ever been in the history of the Slovak Republic and we will be even better," he emphasized .
The agreement between the Government of the Slovak Republic and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the donation of military material corresponds to the foreign policy interests of the Slovak Republic and is drawn up in accordance with the legal order of the Slovak Republic, the general principles of international law, as well as the obligations of the Slovak Republic arising from other international documents.
Minister of Defense Jaroslav Nad will not publish a legal analysis that is supposed to prove the constitutionality of this decision. The analysis was to be prepared only for the Minister of Defense and was to be used for the government's decision. According to Nad, the overall completion of the technology donation process will take several weeks.
Such air defense systems are already in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus, the Ukrainian military will not have any problems with their operation. The Kube complex was designed during Soviet times to protect tank divisions. He became the first Soviet air defense system, the missiles of which had radar guidance heads.
The 2K12 M3 Kub anti-aircraft missile complex is designed to destroy aircraft, air-guided missiles, helicopters and other air targets flying at low and medium altitudes in the range of 100 to 14,000 m, at distances of 3 to 24 km, at target speeds of up to 650 m/s , by the pressure wave and shrapnel effect of the warhead of a guided missile weighing 56 kg equipped with a radar proximity fuze.
Mass of the complex: 32.4 tons. One anti-aircraft missile regiment consists of a control battery and five launch batteries. The complex "Cube" includes two caterpillar self-propelled units with radio equipment and anti-aircraft missiles. The length of the anti-aircraft missile is 5.8 m, and the diameter is 330 mm.
This is air defense material, stored in the premises of ammunition warehouses. The material was used minimally, after import it was stored in the appropriate warehouses. The material is part of the army's anti-aircraft missile system (PLRK) 2K12 KUB intended primarily for the destruction of flying targets at low and medium altitudes.
After successfully completing the demanding four-stage training for the operators of the 2K12 Kub anti-aircraft missile system (PLRK), on 18 May 2017, selected members of the Nitra anti-aircraft missile brigade (plrb) participating in the Strela II 2017 combat firing in the Republic of Poland completed a parade. Its goal was a thorough control of the processing of combat documentation, exported material, equipment, as well as control of personal documents, material for personal use and instruction on health and safety at the Ustka shooting range before combat shootings.
Combat shootings are the highest form of training for increasing combat skills, checking the coordination of air defense units and systems in cooperation with the aviation components. PLRK 2K12 Kub operators already in 1996 (in Bulgaria), 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2013 (in Poland) fulfilled demanding and responsible tasks of combat shooting with an overall rating of excellent. The results of the coordination check before the shootings confirmed that the crews of the 2nd Plrsk Kub are going to Poland this time for combat shootings prepared.
The self-propelled launcher 2P25M1 with PLRK 2K12, KUB' is placed on the tracked chassis of the light armored vehicle GM 578, which is characterized by high passability and maneuverability on the road and in the field. The vehicle is powered by a four-stroke, diesel, six-cylinder, liquid-cooled V-6M engine with a total output of 205.94 kW. An S-40 power plant with a power of 40 kW is stored in the body of the launcher, which is powered by either a GTD-5 gas turbine or a V-6R engine. The 2P25M1 launcher is equipped with means of anti-atomic, anti-chemical and anti-fire protection, power tracking drive, ZUR pre-launch control apparatus, SRP counter, automatic orientation and hot-connection device, R-123 radio station and devices for day and night driving.
A launch pad for three 3M9 rockets of all versions is mounted on top of the launcher. The 2P25M1 launcher is intended for transportation, pre-launch control and launch of three 3M9 rockets. These can be fired with an interval of 4 seconds. The manufacturer of the 2P25M1 launcher was the MI Kalinina engineering plant in Sverdlovsk. The 2P25M1 launcher as part of the 2K12 "KUB" anti-aircraft missile set was officially introduced to the CSLA armament in 1973. The 2P25M1 launcher with tower number 171 was taken over in 1983 on the number tables of the 4th plp in Jihlava belonging to the 4th tdv in Havlíckovo Brod. In 1992, the 4th plp was redeployed from the Jihlava garrison to the Rožnava garrison and renumbered as the 171st plp. After the division of the former Czech Republic
